Triple Crown Races

The Triple Crown Races are a combination of 3 of the most prestigious horse races in the world – all one after another separated by a few weekdays. The Triple Crown begins with the most popular one, getting the majority of the TV audience, and spectators, the Kentucky Derby, followed by the Preakness Stakes, and ending with the Belmont Stakes, which even though it is the least popular of the three, and even though it is the final leg of the Triple Crown, it is by far the race with the longest track for the Thoroughbred horses, a track where your horses can win immortality depending on the speed they complete it by, and a race that few horses can compete in.

Each leg of the Triple Crown also awards the winning Thoroughbred horse a different lush blanket of flowers. The Kentucky Derby for instance awards the winning horse 554 red roses, and the race is also known as “The Run for the Roses”. The Preakness Stakes awards a blanket of black-eyed Susans, and hence, known as “The Run for the Black-Eyed Susans”. Lastly, the Belmont Stakes awards the champion horse a blanket of white carnations, and hence known as “The Run for the Carnations” or “The Test of Champions” due to its longer than normal track.

It is rare that a horse wins all of these events all together, but those that have are now in the history books as legends, glorified by Hollywood movies, and their owners given the reputation, and return that they deserve.
